Perceived Influence of Honesty and Integrity on Small Scale Entrepreneurship Businesses in University Campuses in Delta and Rivers States

Abstract

The study examined perceived influence of honesty and integrity on small scale entrepreneurship businesses in university campuses in Delta and Rivers States. Two research questions were posed to guide the study and two hypotheses tested at 0.05 level of significance. The population of the study was 605 and 79 percent of the total population was the sample for the study which gave 478 as sample size and simple random sampling techniques was adopted for the study. Data for this study were collected by means of questionnaire. A total of 412 small scale entrepreneurship business owners and employees who returned their instrument were studied. Test- retest method was used for the reliability test, which yielded reliability co-efficient of 0.86. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions, while z-test was used to test the hypotheses. Findings showed that honesty and integrity is important and essential in all aspect of small-scale entrepreneurship businesses but difficult to keep and that owners and employees in small scale entrepreneurship businesses ought to do way with factors such as greed, negative habit, laziness, fear, liars and negative friends. Hypothesis one testing was of significant difference, while hypothesis two was of no significant difference in the responses of the respondents. should be no exceptions to honesty and integrity in small scale entrepreneurship businesses in university campuses in Delta and Rivers State and they should try and inculcate honesty and integrity in all aspect of their business within the university campuses.
