Criteria for Measuring Quality Assurance of Business Education Programme in Rivers State Universities

Abstract

This study investigated criteria for measuring quality assurance of Business Education programme in Rivers State Universities. Two objectives, research questions and hypotheses guided the study. The population consisted of 77 Business Education lecturers in the two State universities offering Business Education Programme. Due to the manageable population, the researchers adopted a census technique to engage all the 77 Business Educators in the study. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire developed by the researchers and was validated by two experts in Business Education and a Measurement and Evaluation expert. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Co-efficient (r) was used to determine the reliability of the instrument and a co-efficient of 0.76 was obtained. 69 out of the 77 who returned their instrument were used for analysis. Mean and Standard Deviation were used to analyze the research questions, while z-test was used to test the hypotheses. Findings from the study showed criteria for measuring quality assurance of Business Education programme in Rivers State Universities include quality and quantity of teaching staff, and the role of feedback. Based on the findings of the study, recommendations made amongst others include the engagement of qualified teaching staff by universities for Business Education programme.
