The study investigated availability and utilization of educational resources in secondary education in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State. Two research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population comprised of all the 11,917 students from public and private secondary schools in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State. Taro Yamen’s formula was used to determine the sample of 387 students which was selected from the population using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique. A researcher-designed questionnaire titled “Availability and Utilization of Educational Resources in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers Statewas used to elicit responses from the respondents. The instrument was face and content validated by education experts and the internal consistency reliability co-efficient index obtained through Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was 0.83. The data was analyzed using Mean and Standard Deviation for research questions, while the hypotheses were tested using t – test at 0.05 level of significance. The findings are that educational resources was grossly unavailable and this gave rise to underutilization of the resources. Therefore, the study recommends that both owners of public and private secondary school in Ikwerre Local Government Area should ensure that adequate educational resources were made available and properly utilized.
