Influence of Resource Management on School Effectiveness in Secondary Schools in Edo South Senatorial District

The study examined the influence of resource management on school effectiveness in public secondary schools in Edo South Senatorial District. Specifically, the study sought to determine the influence of (Financial, human, material, and time resource management) on school effectiveness among public secondary schools in Edo South Senatorial District. Research design for the study was correlational design. Population of the study comprises 145 principals from 131 public senior secondary schools in Edo South Senatorial District. The sample size was 75 principals which was about 50% of the population. The questionnaire was used as the research instrument of this study “Influence of Resource Management on School Effectiveness in Secondary Schools”. Reliability co-efficient of the instrument used was determined using Cronbach Alpha technique which showed a reliability index of .861. Data collected were analysed using multiple regression analysis. The study found that school resource management, human resource management and material resource management does not a significantly influence school effectiveness of public secondary schools in Edo South Senatorial District. But financial and time resources influence school effectiveness in public secondary schools in Edo South Senatorial District. The study recommended that government should critically consider employing adequate number of teachers to teach the right subjects; and also provide the necessary materials for learning. This will make both human and material resource to have effect in the management of secondary schools in Edo South Senatorial District.
