Abstract

Universities in Nigeria continue to witness brain drain phenomenon. It is quite disturbing for the stability of universities and economic development of the nation as Nigeria spends her lean resources to produce manpower that would later migrate to other countries without contributing their quota to the development of the nation. Sadly we continue to witness the phenomenon that seems not to end unless Government takes a good stance in university provision as well as good management. Nigerians cannot continue to bemoan the situation without charting a way forward from the doldrums. The study x-rayed some of the causes of brain drain in universities, the consequences on the educational system and the nation at large, and proffers solution for managing the universities so as to turn the drain into gain.
