Abstract

The study was conducted to examine the Electrical Generator Maintenance and Repair Skills Needed by Electrical Installation and Maintenance Works Students of Technical Colleges for Self-Reliance in Rivers State. The study which was guided by three specific objectives and three corresponding research questions adopted a descriptive survey research design with a population of 70 persons including generator repairers and instructors which were all used as sample for the study based on the manageable size. The instrument for data collection was a questionnaire. Data gathered were analysed using mean. The result of two-strokes (petrol) electrical generator maintenance and repairs skills, multi-strokes (Diesel) electrical generators maintenance and repairs skills and gas injectors electrical generators maintenance and repairs skills needed by electrical installation and maintenance works students are presented in tables. Based on the result, it was recommended that maintenance repairs of electric generators be included as one of the courses thought in Technical Colleges in Rivers State.
