The Role of Technology in Teaching and Learning of History Education in Public Secondary Schools in Delta State

Abstract

The study examined the role of technology in teaching and learning of history education in public secondary schools in Delta State. This study is a survey adopting the ex-post-facto research design. The population for this study 15356 public secondary school principals and teachers in Delta State. The sample for this study was 1533 and it is made up of 100 principals and 1433 teachers in Delta State public secondary schools selected from 12 Local Government Areas. A self questionnaire self - designed and titled “Role of Technology in Teaching and Learning of History Education Questionnaire (RTTLHEQ)”, face validity was employed and its reliability equally determined via a pilot study using test re-test reliability Simple percentage, mean scores, standard deviation using 2.50 as benchmark to provide answers to the research questions. In conclusion, technology has revolutionized the teaching and learning of History Education, offering unparalleled opportunities for engagement, accessibility and depth. Based on the conclusion, it therefore recommended that educational stakeholders and policy-makers should invest in teacher training and professional development, develop technology-enhance curricula and assessments, ensure equitable access to technology and digital resources, foster collaborative  and knowledge Sharingamongeducators
