Acquisition of Entrepreneurial Skills: A Pedagogical Re-orientation for Physics Teachers

Abstract

The rate of unemployment of Nigerian graduate youths is alarming. Entrepreneurial skills seem to be the solution of youth employment. There is a need for entrepreneurship skills to be inculcated in undergraduate physics students’ curriculum for them to become independent persons who can establish their own businesses in other to make money and be self- employed. This paper therefore tried to explain the concepts of entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial education and entrepreneur skills. The paper went further to discuss the Physics graduates as entrepreneur and the goals that promote entrepreneur readiness in Physics graduates. In conclusion, the paper highlighted the need for Physics graduates to be self-employed and recommended that Physics teachers should teach in such a way that Physics graduates will acquire technical skills, have wider and deeper knowledge of computational analysis tools, and professional skills such as team work that will make them successful and effective entrepreneurs.
